Teaching Japanese Through a Wellbeing Lens: Empowering Students to Achieve – わかる and Beyond
Presenter: Sayoko Thompson
Sayoko Thompson will explore the link between wellbeing and language learning, sharing insights from current student wellbeing data. She will demonstrate how Dr. Gianfranco Conti’s EPI strategies can be adapted to Japanese teaching and the diverse needs of ACT senior mixed-ability classes, offering practical ideas to empower students and strengthen engagement. Teachers of all year levels (Years 1–12) are warmly welcomed and encouraged to exchange perspectives.

Participants can register only through the Google Form link. Each state association is responsible for sending this link to their membership database by email, to ensure that access to the PD is limited to members.
LTANT will collect all registrations via this page and forward them to NAJLTA. Japanese teachers who wish to participate are asked to complete the form by Tuesday 2 September. The Online PD link will then be sent to participants by NAJLTA at a later date.
