The Languages Teachers Western Australia (LTWA) hosts the national Monday Masterclasses webinars fortnightly on Mondays during school terms.

Session: Embedding First Nations Perspectives in Chinese Languages Education

This workshop explores how TPRS and Cultural Juxtaposition can be combined to integrate Aboriginal perspectives into Chinese language classrooms. By juxtaposing simplified Chinese myths (such as Pangu) with Aboriginal Dreamtime stories (such as the Rainbow Serpent), students develop language fluency while reflecting on different worldviews of land, creation, and identity. The approach highlights both the pedagogical potential and ethical challenges of using storytelling to support intercultural understanding and decolonising practices in language education.
