This year, the competition will again be broadened to allow students to both spoken and written work. We will be receiving submissions to this competition ‘online’ with students able to submit pre-recorded video and digital poster entries.
The difference from last year is that you must upload the pre-recorded video or digital poster to an online storage platform before registering and provide the link with your registration.
If you wish to register, please read the following guidelines (downloadable) carefully before registering.

Language Fest 2025 Guidelines
1. Competition Background:
This year marks the 7th year of Language Fest in its current format. The aim of the competition is to encourage learners who are studying a language to showcase their language skills. Students are able to enter the speaking category or the poster category. Students may even enter both categories should they wish.
1.1 Aim of Competition:
The competition enables participants to showcase the fruits of their language learning. It is an opportunity to express their thoughts and ideas in language, and the speech preparation or poster creation process provides a valuable learning experience. The aim for 2025 is to enhance student proficiency, confidence and communication skill in the target language, and to motive students to strive for excellence in language learning.
1.2 Competition Format:
Students are required to register and submit the final product for the speech or poster competition via www.ltant.org by the upload date.
2. Division & Length of Entry:
2.1 Speech Competition:

2.1.1 Clarification on time requirements:
a) 1-2 minutes means submissions below 1 minute are disqualified. The students must submit a video between 1 to 2 minutes in length. The video above 2 minutes will not be penalised.
b) 2 minutes means that if the video is below 1 minute 50 seconds it will not be accepted, but the video that is greater than 2-minutes 10 seconds will not be penalised.
2.2 Poster Competition:

2.2.1 Clarification on word limit
- Roman script refers to languages using English alphabet e.g. French, German, Indonesian, Spanish, Italian etc.
- Non-Roman Script refers to languages that use a non-English alphabet script e.g. Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Greek, Tamil, Nepalese, Thai, Filipino etc.

2.2. 2. The reasons for the above changes are to:
- ensure that the task remains achievable for non-Roman script language learners while still encouraging language use and creativity because the competition takes place in Term 2 and at this early stage of their learning, proficiency in writing will vary from Roman script language learners.
- motivate more students to participate without feeling overwhelmed by written proficiency challenges.

2.3 Topics:
2.3.1 Speech Topics:
The subject, content and form of the speeches are left open to each contestant. Entrants who have competed in previous competitions may not use the same content as previous years.

Students may choose their own topic or use one of the prompts below for their speeches:
A. Contemporary Issues:
B. When I travelled to...
C. My ideal holiday destination
D. A profile of a famous person
E. My Dream Weekend
F. Self-Introduction and Hobbies
