About the Event

The Language Teachers’ Association of the Northern Territory (LTANT) with the support of the Professional Teachers’ Association of the NT and Charles Darwin University invite all LTANT members to the Annual Conference for 2022.

Keynote Speaker 1: Andrew Scrimgeour – A research fellow at the University of South Australia. He has undertaken research and development of language curriculum and language teacher professional learning since the early 1980s. He currently undertakes research and presents internationally on issues in Chinese language education with a focus on literacy development, and curriculum design for Chinese language learning in schools, including in intensive language learning contexts. He co-authored Teaching Chinese as a Second Language: The Way of the Learner with Dr Jane Orton in 2019.

Keynote Speaker 2: Dr Michelle Kohler is Senior Research Fellow at the Research Centre for Languages and Cultures, University of South Australia and Assistant Principal at the School of Languages. Her areas of expertise include language(s) teaching and learning, intercultural mediation, language(s) policy, curriculum design and assessment, and Indonesian language education. Michelle is President of the Applied Linguistics Association of Australia.Her current research focuses on using alternative assessment for evidencing intercultural capability.

Angela Hollis: Curriculum & Pedagogy Officer at the Catholic Education Office in the NT. Angela has worked with the Australian, International Baccalaureate, Cambridge (UK & CIE), International Middle Years (IMYC) as well as national curriculum from several countries. Her learning area specialisation is the Humanities, particularly Geography and Travel & Tourism. Angela's current role at CENT is to support schools and staff in planning curriculum and implementing pedagogical approaches that support best learning outcomes for all students.
