About the Event
Dynamic linguistic and cultural diversity characterises much of the educational landscape in the global north and south and is realised in many Australian schools and classrooms. The positioning of linguistic and cultural resources in relation to educational policies, curriculum, assessment, and pedagogy is therefore of critical importance.
In this symposium, we explore the role of plurilingual pedagogies in helping us rethink language and learning, asking questions about the fundamental nature of language that underlies our teaching and learning, our understanding of the students before us, and the ways in which pedagogical strategies can be used to engage students’ linguistic, cultural and semiotic repertoires for learning.
