About the Event
Join LTANT on April 26th 2024, at Darwin Languages Centre for the inaugural Teachers in Action day.
This event will bring together Language teachers to observe Language lessons and activities in real life. Selected teachers will prepare and deliver lessons that other educators may observe throughout the day.
This is the opportunity to observe 'Teachers in action' rather than just reading about activities in a textbook or hearing the retelling of practice. Teachers are encouraged to also bring a small group of middle/ senior students too so that the students can also benefit from the experience of learning from different teaching strategies.
There will be multiple lessons and techniques to observe and take part in throughout the day. Through this event, LTANT hopes to upskill members on ways to manage language activities with groups of students and to strengthen connections between Languages educators.
◉ If you are presenting a lesson/activity, please ensure that the activity is transferrable across year levels and across languages. Cultural lessons or simple vocabulary activities is an appropriate place to start.
◉ If you will be a presenter, your lessons will run for 45 minutes. The concepts within the lesson will need to either be cultural or something that can be run in English as there will be a range of students studying various languages in your group.
◉ In the registration, please include if you will present a lesson and if you are planning on bringing students to the event.
◉ Students will arrive with their teachers between 9:00-9:30 and will depart the venue at 13:00.
